The Tour Experience

The visit to the Piedra del Peñol is a key part of the tour, but the climb itself is optional. The entrance fee is managed by the rock’s owners (not us) and costs approximately 30,000 COP. You must pay this in cash at the ticket booth if you choose to climb. If you prefer not to climb, you can enjoy the view and shops at the base!

There are about 740 steps. Most people take between 15 to 20 minutes to go up at a steady pace. It is a physical challenge, but very achievable for anyone with average fitness. The view from the top is 100% worth it!

The tour operates rain or shine! Guatapé is beautiful in any weather. The bus and the boat are covered. If it rains, we recommend bringing a light rain jacket or purchasing a poncho in town.

Absolutely. It is a family-friendly experience. However, please note that the rock climb can be tiring for very young children. Infants (0-3 years) travel for free on a parent’s lap.

Yes. We use large, stable boats that are fully equipped with life jackets (mandatory for all passengers). It is a relaxing, slow-paced cruise around the reservoir.

Logistics & Pickup

We have two meeting points to make your morning easier:

7:30 AM: Estadio Metro Station (CRA 70 con Calle 47D). Please arrive 10 minutes early!

7:00 AM: Parque del Poblado (CRA 43A con Calle 9).

To ensure the tour starts on time and maximize your day in Guatapé, we do not pick up at individual hotels. Meeting at our designated points allows us to leave Medellín faster and beat the traffic.

Traffic in Medellín can be unpredictable, but we typically aim to be back between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. We drop you off at the same point where you were picked up.

Small backpacks and day bags are perfectly fine (and recommended!). If you have large suitcases because you are changing hotels, please contact us via WhatsApp beforehand to check if there is space in the bus hold.
